Kanagawa Prefecture Certified Tourist Guide Training (1)

Hello everyone!

I would like to report on the “Kanagawa Prefecture Certified Tourist Guide Training” that I participated in.

This training program is designed for those who wish to become a certified tour guide in Kanagawa Prefecture, and aims to provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary to guide tourists.

Outline of the Training

The training program consists of a series of three sessions, of which this was the first. The content of the first training began with a basic study to gain a deeper understanding of the tourism resources of Kanagawa Prefecture. In particular, detailed lectures were given on Kamakura, Hakone, Yokohama, and other tourist destinations that are popular both in Japan and abroad, enabling participants to learn about the unique charm and historical background of each region.

Content of Training

Understanding the tourism resources of Kanagawa Prefecture

First, participants learned about the geographical features of Kanagawa Prefecture as a whole and an overview of each tourist destination. In particular, the participants were able to understand how the cultural and historical background of each region influences tourism.

Communication Skills Required of Tourist Guides

There was also a session on the communication skills required of a tourist guide. Specifically, participants learned how to interact with tourists, how to give effective explanations, and basic English phrases for dealing with foreign tourists.

Preparation for Fieldwork

In preparation for the fieldwork that is scheduled to take place during the upcoming training, a workshop was held on how to prepare a guide route for each area and how to provide information that will be appreciated by tourists.

Impressions after the training

I feel that I was able to learn the basics of being a tourist guide through this training. Kanagawa Prefecture is a very historically and culturally rich region, and there is still much to learn in order to become a guide who can convey its charms to tourists from Japan and abroad. However, I am grateful for the very valuable opportunity to improve my own skills through this training.

Thank you for taking the time to read this report to the end. Please look forward to the next training report!
